About The Balcony Bar
The storied French Quarter is known for balcony parties -- prime real estate, in fact, at Mardi Gras -- but the artier Uptown district has only one watering hole that lets you rise above it all, the aptly-named Balcony Bar. Since Uptown has less-touristy foot traffic, this affords you the chance to people-watch on a higher level, literally. It's also a great place to watch the sun set right down the length of historic Magazine Street.

Of course, you don't need to stay on the balcony to have fun. The Balcony Bar is a favorite among the college crowd, and that probably has something to do with the more than 70 beers on tap (although not all at once) and the pool tables. It's a refined if casual atmosphere; the bar's moderately priced menu features both local favorites (like po' boys) and Mediterranean specialties, not to mention soups, salads and traditional pub finger foods. Just on the right side of trendy, the Balcony Bar is perfect for Uptown revelers any time of the year. -- Rob Fontenot
